5th  International Tourism Film Festival

     „TOURFILM - RIGA 2012”
 

5^th International Tourism Film Festival „Tourfilm – Riga 2012” will take place in Riga on April 28^th 2012. Tourism films presenting tourism products or specific cities, regions, states as tourism destinations will be judged in the following categories: cultural tourism, eco-tourism, adventure tourism, commercial tourism and Latvian tourism product.

Films will be judged by professional jury. Awards will be given in each  category and the main award – the  Grand Prix will be selected from the award winners.

Demonstration of the best films and award ceremony will take place on 28^th of April at cinema “Splendid Palace”.

Application form must be submitted out online in the web-page of the festival: www.tourfilmriga.lv

Closing date for entries – 1^st of March, 2012, entry is free of charge.

DVD films must be submitted at Riga City Council, Foreign Affairs office (Ratslaukums 1, Riga, Latvia, LV-1539) or film-file must be uploaded on the ftp server ( ftp://213.175.125.105  user: rtkic, password: swu7rube) till 1^st  of March, 2012.

Grand Prix CIFFT 2012 - 'Festival of Festivals'

The highlight-event of the film festival year is going to be held in Vienna on November 9th in 2012: The Festival of Festivals 2012.

The winner gains the Grand Prix CIFFT for the world-wide best tourism film of the year. The runners-up obtain a Mention of the Grand Prix as a sign of recognition. During the year each of the CIFFT festivals holds its own jury and awards independently prizes to the films entered into the competition. Counting the awards throughout the year, the overall winner is determined by a point system at the end of the year. The winner will be awarded festively in Vienna in November each year. The event will be accompanied by an eventful cultural program.

Tourism film competition from 7th to 11th March 2012

at the ITB-Cinema in Berlin

Das goldene Stadttor means an innovative show of best ideas of tourism. This is where new ideas are be shown to attract tourists. Here will be shown the state of the art in film design to stay in memory forever. Innovatively ideas full of information and emotions to create curios recipients who instantly wants to know more about the places.

New films of the entire tourism industry will be shown by the international film competition Das goldene Stadttor - The Golden City Gate at the ITB-cinema during the ITB-Berlin from 7 till 11 of march 2012 again. In the jury there are judges from politics, economy, sciences, art and touristics as well as the hotel and event management evaluating the actual contributions. Also representatives from the international tourism industry, advertising agencies and event agencies can apply for the jury.

DM-SAT will report about the awards show, as already did BBC, CNN, Deutsche Welle TV. Please have a seat at the ITB-Cinema TV studio corner announcing your statements at www.itb-tv.de .Take advantage of many of good values of brandnew contacts throughout the ITB-Cinema. Of course we can give your our stage of the ITB-Cinema to introduce your presentation. Also press conferences in the ITB Cinema with 60 to 100 seats are possible.

The CIFFT obtains an endorsement by CATA

As from this year, the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals will be proudly endorsed by CATA (Central America Tourism Agency).

Hereby CATA will be joining other prominent organisations, which continue supporting CIFFT’s work and whose ultimate goal is to promote the development of tourism around the world, such as the ETC (Europe Travel  Commission), PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) and the UNWTO (World Tourism Organisation).

The Central America Tourism Agency, CATA, was founded in 2002 with the cooperation of seven countries:  Belice, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama. It is an agency supported by the public and private sector, which joined forces in order to achieve a common goal: to promote the investment to attract responsible and sustainable tourism in order to contribute to the development of the different regions in Central America, creating new workplaces and paying particular attention to the interests of developing zones, thereby contributing to the eradication of poverty.

It is reassuring to know that such prestigious agencies share our visions to promote worlwide tourism. We extend our deepest appreciation and are happy to count with CATA’s endorsement!

After 14 Festivals in 12 countries around the world to present the world-wide best tourism film of the year, the final countdown to the 'Festival of Festivals' has begun…

Among the favorites are Mexico for the best tourism film of the year with “Mexico en tus sentidos” and Poland, Hungary and Denmark with films which are going head to head for a Mention at the festival.

This prize will be awarded in the 23rd Edition of the Grand Prix CIFFT held in Vienna, on the 11th of November 2011, at the Julius Raab Hall in the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber in Wiedner Hauptstr. 63, 1040 Vienna, Austria.

The abbreviation CIFFT stands for The International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals and the Grand Prix CIFFT distinction is handed by the end of the year to the tourism film which has gained the most points at individual festivals around the world. This system enables the films to gain worldwide recognition and promote their traditions, customs, colors, values and states as part of publicity measures to try to reach an audience of travel enthusiasts worldwide.

Last year’s proud winner was the filming team from Austria, who presented a wonderful film titled “Styria - The Green Heart of Austria”.

After moving West with Tourfilm Brazil as a new member, CIFFT is pleased to announce a new member in the East:

in Veliky Novgorod, Russian Federation. The town is located 180 kilometers south of St. Petersburg and is considered as the Birthplace of Russia, first mentioned in 859 ac.
The first edition of Kitovras, which is organized by the Municipal Autonomous Institution Tourism Development Centre “Red Izba” has just successfully finished.
We are very excited, because it´s the first of our CIFFT member festivals which offers a public voting through the internet. We say hello to Kitovras and are looking forward to a thrilling team-play with Oksana Chernega and Olga Konovalova. 

On September 16-17, 2011 Veliky Novgorod hosts the Second International Tourism and Cultural Film Festival "Kitovras".
Applications and films are accepted till May 1, 2011.

Mr. Lee Gluckman jr. was elected as a new president

On behalf of all CIFFT members we want to thank Dr. Josef Schütz very much for his commitment to CIFFT as it´s president over the past years. We are sorry that he has decided not to serve another term and therefore to resign. The CIFFT General Assembly unanimously agreed to grant Dr. Schütz the status of Honorary President.

Now we are looking forward to having a successful time with our new CIFFT president Mr. Lee Gluckman jr., who is the director of the U.S. International Film & Video Festival in Los Angeles. We are sure, that his  dedication will be of great benefit for the group.
