The world’s best tourism film and commercial are from Spain and Macau

On November 13th the Grand Prix CIFFT was already held for the 30th time. From over more than 3,500 entries, a People’s Choice Award, thirteen nominees and two Grand Prix winners for film and commercial have been determined and awarded at the Ceremony at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber in Vienna. Among them were films from Austria, Denmark, Ecuador, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Macau, Pakistan, Peru and Spain. The audience, consisting of experts from the tourism and film industry, ambassadors and press representatives, was impressed by the quality of the films.

The Grand Prix for the best tourism film went to the production “The Route of Fate” from the agency Chârles Barcelona for the Catalan Tourist Board. The film shows the cultural diversity of Catalonia through a compelling story in which two friends find the lost travel diary of a singer-songwriter who is touring through Catalonia.
The Grand Prix for the best commercial went to the Galaxy Macau Hotel for the spot “Love Summer” which was produced by Southgate Productions. The commercial displays the unique offers of this luxury hotel.

For the first time in the festival’s history, a People’s Choice Award was handed out at this year’s edition of the Grand Prix CIFFT. In total all competing films received 28,450 votes from 136 countries. The CIFFT “People’s Choice” Award 2018 finally went to “Greece – A 365 Day Destination” by director Andonis Theocharis Kioukas for the Greek National Tourism Board. With 7,134 votes the film clearly left the other participants behind.
