14th ART & TUR celebrates the best in audiovisual tourism communication

Between 26th and 29th October, the city of Aveiro hosted the International Tourism Film Festival ART&TUR, the Portuguese Stage of the CIFFT Circuit, the biggest competition for the Travel Video Marketing Industry.  In its 14th edition, ART&TUR is a renowned event that annually presents and awards outstanding videos and documentaries dedicated to Tourism.

The International Jury, which brings together experts in Tourism, Marketing and Audiovisual Industries from 19 countries, chose this year’s winners among 149 submissions from 31 countries.

Notable tourism brands, creative agencies and production companies were awarded in the thematic categories Tourism Destinations, Tourism Products, Tourism Services, Arts & Creativity, Music & Dance, Culture & Heritage, Adventure & Expeditions, Sports & Leisure, Environment & Ecology, Sustainable Tourism Issues and Innovation in Tourism.

The winners were revealed in a charming Award Ceremony held at the Congress Center of Aveiro, an emblematic building of the city's industrial architecture.

The Austrian production “Kitzbühel 365 - NEW Worlds, NEW Cosms, NEW Wonders”, produced by Friendship.is GmbH for Kitzbühel Tourismus, was elected by the Jury to receive the Grand Prix. The video that also achieved 1st place in the category Tourism Destinations City, invites the audience to connect with their true essence, with nature and the “here and now”, on an alternating journey through Kitzbühel's seasons.

On the festival days, the ART&TUR Festival brought to the attendees round tables, which proposed reflections on relevant topics related to tourism, audiovisual production and sustainability, such as the tourism promotion through the point of view of audiovisual producers, the role of regional film commissions, and tourism in the post-Covid era. In addition, were presented the case studies “Country Brand Strategy – Chile” and “Country brand strategy – South Africa”.

The festival program also included film screenings of the 74 videos selected by the International Jury to integrate the competition’s Short List and the winners of the “Food Film Menu” promoted by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture Art & Tourism (IGCAT).

The 14th edition of ART&TUR featured two innovative initiatives: the Matchmaking “Producers vs Tourism Promoters”, providing the networking between audiovisual producers and tourism destinations representatives, and also the “Blogging Aveiro”, a contest dedicated to publications related to the city of Aveiro and region.

ART&TUR Festival is organized by the Centro de Portugal Film Commission (CPFC), with the support of the Regional Tourism Entity of the Center of Portugal and the Aveiro City Council. Since 2008, the festival has been an official member of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT), which brings together tourism film festivals from four continents in a competition that will define the World’s Best Tourism Films of the year.
