Belgrade, September 8, 2024—The winners of the Silkfest International Tour & Eco Film Festival were celebrated at an award ceremony held in Belgrade, where 28 awards were presented, recognizing the best in tourism and eco-themed productions.
The festival’s top honor, the Grand Prix, was awarded to “To be Albertan” (Canada), produced by C&B Advertising for Travel Alberta. This production also won 1st place in the Tourism Destination Region category, while Travel Alberta also took home the White Acacia for Best Photography for “Skypainter” (Canada).
In the Tourism Destinations City category, 1st place was awarded to “I Feel Guilty of Your Best Moments” (Spain), followed by “Wroclaw: City of Adventure” (Poland) in 2nd place, and “Far From The World - A Bleu Evasion Story” (France) in 3rd place. In the Tourism Destinations Regions category, “Alps at their very best” (Austria) secured 2nd place, and “For Sure, they are from the north” (Portugal) took 3rd place. In the Tourism Destinations Countries category, “Tourism in South Africa with Trevor Noah” (South Africa) won 1st place, “It’s Spectacular! It’s for you!” (Brazil) received 2nd place, and “Peru Wow” (Peru) took 3rd place.
The Tourism Products category recognized “Grand Train Tour of Switzerland. The Ride of a Lifetime” (Switzerland) with 1st place, “Extreme Ljubljana” (Slovenia) with 2nd place, and “Cultural Journeys in Türkiye” (Türkiye) with 3rd place. In the Tourism Services category, 1st and 2ndplaces were awarded to “Hamad International Airport Campaign” (Qatar) and “Azal Safety Video” (Azerbaijan), respectively.
Special awards were also presented, with “Far From The World - A Bleu Evasion Story” (Croatia) and “Discover the Mysterious Lower Silesia” (Poland) receiving the Special Jury Award. “How to Winter” (Switzerland) won the Blue Danube for Best Promotional Video Campaign.
Highlighting the festival’s commitment to sustainability, “THE ISLAND” (Türkiye) was awarded 1st place in the Ecological Respond category, followed by “Sustainable Türkiye” (Türkiye) in 2nd place, and “Going to Break the Ice” (Croatia) in 3rd place. The festival also recognized technical excellence by awarding distinctions for Best Editing, Best Directing, Best Screenplay, Best Photography, and Best Sound Design.
With 16 years of history, Silkfest continues to be a premier platform for tourism and eco-themed productions. This year, the festival received entries from more than 30 countries, all of which were evaluated by an international panel of industry experts.
Silkfest is part of the CIFFT Circuit, a global competition for tourism films that includes leading international festivals. Winners also receive points toward the CIFFT Rankings, a prestigious list that determines the year’s best productions and the winners of the World Tourism Film Awards.
