From Kagawa’s islands beyond the Setouchi Triennale to the denim heritage of Kurashiki, from Kumano’s brush craftsmanship to the quiet winter of Lake Matsubara and the gentle spring of Izu, each film captures a unique sense of place. Together, they reveal a deeper, more intimate side of Japan beyond the familiar.

Goals of the film

Our objective is to promote a deeper understanding of Japan’s lesser-known regions by showcasing local industries, food, art, festivals, and off-the-beaten-path experiences, as well as people’s daily lives beyond major tourist destinations.
