The Tourism and Society Think Tank (TSTT), one of the official endorsers of CIFFT, has constituted its new International Governing Committee, which will serve until May 2030. Hugo Marcos, General Secretary of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT), has been renewed as one of its twelve members.
TSTT is an international organization dedicated to reflection, analysis, and knowledge generation at the intersection of tourism and society. With a multidisciplinary and global outlook, it brings together experts, academics, and practitioners to develop ideas and proposals for a more sustainable, innovative, and inclusive tourism model.
The newly formed committee, which took office on 1 June 2026, brings together a select group of professionals from across Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East, reflecting the TSTT's commitment to multidisciplinary, globally-oriented thinking about the future of tourism.
Chaired by Antonio Santos del Valle and with Félix José España González serving as legal representative, the committee brings together a diverse roster of international professionals: Arturo Moreno (Brazil–Spain), María Concepción García Gómez (Spain), Paul Anthony Beswick Báez (Dominican Republic), Giulia Bianchi (Italy), Faisal Al-Harbi (Saudi Arabia), Max Haberstroh (Germany), Thelma Gómez Román (Colombia), Mario Roberto Maldonado Samayoa (Guatemala), Marco Antonio Abastoflor Portugal (Bolivia), and José Manuel Gutiérrez Rodríguez (Spain) — alongside Hugo Marcos, representing Portugal.
Hugo Marcos brings to the committee his extensive expertise in the audiovisual promotion of destinations and the strategic use of film and media to drive tourism. As the leading figure of CIFFT, the world reference network for tourism film festivals, he is uniquely positioned to advocate for the role of screen content in shaping how destinations are perceived, chosen, and experienced by travelers worldwide. His renewal also reinforces the existing institutional relationship between CIFFT and the TSTT, continuing to translate endorsement into active collaboration at the highest level.
"The TSTT is a space where rigorous thinking about tourism's role in society takes place. Being part of its Governing Committee is an opportunity to ensure that audiovisual promotion and film tourism remain central to conversations about sustainable and innovative destination development," says Hugo Marcos, CIFFT General Secretary.
