The most prestigious competition for the Travel Video Marketing Industry has officially announced its 2021 winners.
On December 3rd, the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) unveiled the 2021 World’s Best Tourism Films. The official announcement was broadcast from Valencia (Spain), a city at the forefront of innovation and creativity in tourism, marking the first time, in 33 years, that the World’s Tourism Film Awards took place outside its hometown Vienna (Austria).
Throughout the year, more than 3300 submissions from more than 90 countries competed in the tourism film festivals that integrates the CIFFT Circuit to achieve the highest recognition for Travel Video Marketing – the title of World’s Best Tourism Film.
To achieve this prestigious nomination, participants had to win the largest number of awards in the CIFFT Circuit’s stages spread across four continents, which guaranteed access to the CIFFT Ranking List, the leading global resource for benchmarking creativity and effectiveness in Tourism Communication.
At the end of the year, the CIFFT Ranking List established the World’s Best Tourism Films in six thematic categories: Tourism Destinations City, Region and Country, Tourism Services, Tourism Products, and Independent Travel Videos.
To reveal the “Tourism Oscars”, the CIFFT Director, Alexander V. Kammel, wandered emblematic places of Valencia, known as the City of Arts and Sciences, thanks to its historical and cultural wealth spread across architectural spaces ranging from Gothic to the most modern trends in architecture.
“We are thrilled by the fact that the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals has chosen Valencia to host such important distinction in the tourism sector.”, said Emiliano García, Councilor for Tourism and Internationalization of the Valencia City Council and president of Visit València.
Likewise, García highlighted that “It is the role of destinations to bet on quality content to promote themselves, appeal to feelings and also transmit values linked to respect for heritage and authenticity. If we succeed, we contribute to generating tourism that is increasingly sustainable and friendlier to cities.”

The most prestigious competition for Travel Video Marketing
The World’s Tourism Film Awards aims to stimulate, recognize and award creative excellence in tourism communication. Its results come from the CIFFT Circuit, a year-long competition between video ads and campaigns from notable tourism brands, creative agencies and production companies.
About 450 awards were assigned in this year’s competition by international panels of juries, which brought together experts in Tourism, Marketing and Audiovisual Industries, including Oscar and Emmy former-winners.
These figures reveal that despite tourism being one of the industries most affected by the pandemic, tourism destinations, more than ever, recognize the importance of using video, not only as a promotional tool, but to creating a meaningful connection with visitors worldwide.
“Video is one of the main pillars in helping to achieve tourism recovery. With no other media, the destinations, services and products can reach the hearts and the brains of future clients as with videos. What was right 33 years ago when we founded this Circuit is even more right today. I am very happy to see winners from all four corners of the world participating at this unique award. I want to thank all our member festivals for their exceptional work during the last 12 months. And I am looking forward to new great, innovative and touching projects entered into the CIFFT Circuit in 2022.”, said Alexander V. Kammel, CIFFT Director.
The World’s Tourism Awards 2021 counted with the support of Visit València and was endorsed by UNWTO (World Tourism Organization), ETC (European Travel Commission), CTO (Caribbean Tourism Organization), and CATA (Centro America Tourism Association).
