The Japan World’s Tourism Film Festival is the first international tourism Film festival in Oriental Asia. The event was founded in 2019 and aims to promote “better tourism” by focusing on discovering new expressions of tourism films and awarding outstanding films and filmmakers. Its first editions took place in Osaka, and today the festival is based in Kyoto, Japan.

The JWTFF offers the participants a modern combination of competition and a symposium, discussing the most recent innovations and trends about Tourism, Digital Marketing, and new technologies for Video, as X-Reality and Cross-Reality, among others.

With the initiative “Sustainable Tourism Labo”, the festival proposes to reflect on tourism video as an essential tool for the attractiveness of destinations, sustainable tourism, and the creation of new travel demands, especially in the Pandemic scenario.

Inspired by ART&TUR International Tourism Film Festival, JWTFF also brings an innovative proposal with the ART & FACTORY JAPAN, an art project on Yoron Island, where creators stayed and thought about the relationship between tourism and residents while creating tourism films.

The colourful Kyoto

Kyoto is Japan’s former capital city and world-famous for its refined culture, dining, and charm of rural Japan.

Kyoto City attracts millions of local and international visitors each year looking for traditional Japanese culture. Temples and shrines such as Kiyomizudera Temple and Kinkakuji draw lots of attention from visitors, like the bamboo groves of nearby Arashiyama.

Stay in a traditional ryokan, take a dip in a rejuvenating onsen, and enjoy the seasonal changes of cherry blossoms and brilliant autumn foliage. Kyoto’s magic is only a short bullet train ride from Tokyo. Beyond the city lie Kyoto Prefecture’s many attractive rural areas.

In the north, Amanohashidate has long been considered one of Japan’s three most scenic places. Nestled in the mountains, Miyama is one of the last towns with thatched-roof farmhouses, many of which are still inhabited. Enjoy delicious local vegetables and the famous green tea grown in Uji.
